ホンダが独自開発した小型ジェット機「ホンダジェット」、日本のメディアに初公開
ホンダが独自に開発した小型ジェット機「ホンダジェット」の量産型が、アメリカで日本のメディアに初めて公開された。国産ジェットの誕生は、およそ20年ぶりとなる。ホンダは、自動車会社としては世界で初めて、エンジンと機体を独自に開発した「ホンダジェット」の量産拠点を、ノースカロライナ州に完成させた。ホンダジェットは、流れるような丸みを帯びたデザイン、そして、翼の上にエンジンがつく斬新なデザインとなっている。航空機にくわしい岡部 いさく氏は「こんな(エンジンの)配置、ほかに見たことがないですよね。ホンダは研究して、ここにつけると、ちょうど(空気の)抵抗が少ないという場所を見つけたんです」と話した。エンジンを胴体から離すことで、同じサイズの従来機よりも、客室が30%近く広くなったほか、燃費も2割ほど低くなっている。コックピットは、従来の飛行機よりもボタンの数が少なく、すっきりとした印象を受ける。また、カラフルな画面が並び、タッチパネルが採用されている。コックピットは、自動車を運転するかのような親しみやすさが追求されている。ホンダエアクラフトカンパニーの藤野道格(みちまさ)社長は「ホンダジェットを既存のビジネスジェットのマーケットに投入することで、新しい市場のけん引役というか、けん引することで新しい市場をつくりあげていけるのではないか」と語った。年間の量産予定数である100機を1日で受注したというこのジェット機の価格は、日本円でおよそ3億6,000万円(450万ドル)。リーマン・ショック後、需要が減っていたアメリカのビジネスジェット市場だが、ホンダは、今後のシェア拡大に自信を示している。
