Had a nice fish dinner at local restaurant and we really collapsed into bed last night. We are starting to wear down--Parisians move so fast. Run run run, but always in high style. Americans can be spotted instantly, by size and clothing. Most French people are quite thin. Even wearing jeans to the laundromat, they dress fashionably. The children are pampered and fashionable and love their parents--often seen walking with mommy holding hands and chatting amiably. Saturday is a big strike day for rails, Metro and who knows what else. This is over the retirement age issue--moving it from 60 to 62--and such strikes are expected to continue. People are already booking cabs to the airport and so on. We met a few people who missed connections last time and had been left in a pickle. We think we will miss effects this time, too. We plan to visit Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides with Army museum and Napoleon's tomb on Saturday since they are nearby. Police racing by in caravans with blue lights and sirens together with soldiers with machine guns examining crowds at popular places and train stations are the order of the day, with the big terrorism threat here.
