Food and the aroma of barbeque all over the place. Baba Master Marvin Bu Ga Lu Smith, Master John Esposito, Master Mark Hagan and the sensational 25 year old Tenor sax player Ben Newsome, all were on it for a day of joyous fun. Wow! From the first song to Night In Tunesia, the last song recorded, the video captured true musical essence in the outdoor environment. If you listen carefully, the birds were singing along with the music and the music was SMOKIN AS HARD AS THE BARBEQUE PITS. Oh yeah, the interaction between these four guys was incredible. Clusters of high emotion was felt and sound vibrations never before heard by me. There was FAMILY in the air. A very special chemistry existed between all the players. Mark Hagan's solo work was amazing. John Esposito is one of the finest musicians I've ever heard and Ben Newsome, through every song, developed excitement and surprises as he seems to always be willing to take chances in his playing. That's what Marvin has been teaching the young players. Creating without fear of making mistakes. These four players continued to create throughout the day and there were musical surprises chorus after chorus of every song. The finale was Marvin's absolutely beautiful solo on the last tune, Night In Tunesia. What a harmonic statement on the drums. You could hear every note of the melody in his solo. Thank you Marvin,John Mark and Ben for allowing me the pleasure of hearing you all together as a unit. You all created ULTIMATE JOY FOR THIS LISTENER and I'm sure for anyone else that hears thi...
