　アンドロイドは社会に溶け込めるか――。国際電気通信基礎技術研究所（ＡＴＲ）と大阪大は１６日、大阪市中央区のカフェで、実在の女性そっくりの遠隔操作型ロボット「ジェミノイドＦ」に接客させて、その反応を調べる実験をした。　このアンドロイドは２０代後半の女性をモデルにつくられ、昨年４月に発表された。あだ名は「ふみこ」。役者がカメラを見ながら操作する。役者が話すと発音に合わせ口が動き、左右の首振りなど頭の動きも伝わる。立ったり、手足を動かしたりする機能はない。　店の隅に座ったふみこが客に飲み物の希望を聞き、会話もかわした。女性客に「年は？」と聞かれると、「１歳半ぐらいです。あなたは？」と問い返した。イベントと知らなかった小学生は「びっくりした。ちょっとだけこわい」。ふみこがアンドロイドと気づかず、「どこにいるんだ」と不思議がる人もいた。
