We had Mothers day looking around Wurzburg and walking up to the Fortress above the town. Then off to Rothenburg Ob De Tauber where we had a great Mothers Day meal out. The town was having its annual 3 day festival, when as legend has it, during the thirty year war in 1631 a bloody catholic General Tilly and his troops stormed the town. He was going to burn the whole place down and kill everyone but someone begged for mercy. The General thought about it and said if anyone could drink the giant mug of wine (apparently it held 6 litres) in one go he would spare the town. So the mayor said righty ho and succeeded so the town was spared. Now every year on the 7th Sunday after Easter they basically reenact the entire thing and get drunk for three days. I don't think I have ever seen drinking vessels as big before, I honestly believed some of the steins they were drinking from we only meant for ornamental purposes but no they use them everyday! We ended up staying here for the entire festival and had fantastic weather to join in the beer drinking celebrations. While we were here I finally convinced Grant to dye my hair as the girls had been calling me the silver bullet for some time now. And he made a damn good job of it too.
