Paphiopedilum delenatii flower opens (time-lapse)

This Paphiopedilum delenatii, aka Delenat’s slipper orchid, is unlike most of the exotic flowers prized by orchid enthusiasts: it's what orchid enthusiasts call a "species orchid" and geneticists call "wild-type". Both terms mean just that it's not a hybrid or cultivar, but rather something you might find growing wild in its native Vietnam, setting perfect pink-and-white jewels in the tropical forest's gravelly banks and tree trunks. Shot with my Canon Powershot SX110IS, running CHDK and the Countdown Intervalometer script. 460 frames at 600 sec. (10 min.) delay between frames: ~77 hours elapsed in total. 30 FPS.
