Thankfully John was feeling better & we met a nice OZ couple Andy & Kelly. We sat around & compared nightmare stories from the night before. Mostly slept, read & played cards for the 8-9 hour journey. Got to the Lao border town, and found a nice guest house, Lou was very HAPPY to have a bed! Went to a nice beer garden on the river, with live music & had nice curry & a few beers. Everything closed about 10pm, so ended up back at the guesthouse playing cards with Andy & Kel. Got up at 8am the next day to walk to the Laos exit border, took about 5 mins to get there. We were 1 day over our visa stay, & nearly got charged $10 each. Got the guy down to $5 in the end, + the 20 baht we had to pay each as it was Sunday. Got a boat across the river (only 2 mins) & went into Thailand. No charges here, it felt good to be back in Thailand like we had come home or something. Then we waited for an hour for a bus, so had breakfast. Lou couldn't resist when she saw Xmas dec's in the shop next door, & went to purchase some tinsel to decorate her back pack.
