From there we got directions to the Customs office, here the man asked for the registration, driving licence, passports and insurance papers and then informed us we needed photocopies of all. We had most but copied the last few and also got our Brazilian money changed to Guyanan. From here we went to the bank to try to get more money, they would not accept a credit card but would change travellers checks so that was OK. Next it was back to Customs here it took about 2 hours to get the importation documents and a temporary driving licence. Then we went to a place where we could get tourist information, unfortunately that was not open but we were told where the pharmacy was and so went there. Here we could not get either of the tablets we wanted but got sent to the Malaria Camp. At long last we were able to get some malaria drugs for Mike. On talking to them they suggested we do not use mefloquine but instead gave us a couple of courses of tablets to be used in case we got malaria. As this is a specialist clinic we took their word for it and gladly accepted the tablets. Now ...
