Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun) was interesting, if exhausting and a little muddy. The island is almost visible from Copacabana, but the ferry ride there took about 2 hours ... mostly because we were on the slowest boat in on Lake Titicaca... seriously, Thorpie would have beaten us there on a bad day, wearing a tracksuit. The boat dropped us at the north end of the island where the incan ruins are... took about 45 minutes to trek up the island to see them... they were ruiny. Then we commenced our walk across the island... was breathtaking views the whole way... the huge Lake with land only just visible in the distance, the snow capped andes in the distance... very pretty. Took about 4 hours to walk from the north to the south, up and down many mountains (okay, hills), then we crashed at a hostel on the island for the night. Yesterday was a big day... got up in the morning to negotiate a staircase that had turned into a waterfall to get down to the ferry, and caught a (slightly faster) boat back to Copa, picked up our backpacks and jumped on a bus for La Paz. After a couple of hours on the road, the bus broke down in the middle of nowhere in Bolivia! After they replaced the busted tyre with a totally bald spare, we were back on the road! Accelerating to maximum speed on every stright ...
