Wal-Mart (WMT) said today it will extend holiday discounts into the week after Christmas, and will initiate new deals as well. Wal-Mart said its stores will have clearance discounts of up to 50 percent on some home items and toys.

Ann Taylor Stores (ANN) posted a profit for the third quarter today of $2.07 million, or 3 cents per share, as compared to a loss of $13.4 million, or 24 cents per share, in the same quarter last year. Sales dipped to $462.4 million, as compared to $527.2 million in the same quarter last year.
