Early misty morning out watching the deer, when I caught this pair trying to mate backwards, that is the hind trying to mount the stag. I had seen a brief glimpse the previous day but was "staggered" to see it again.

From: BBC Nature on Wed, Oct 27 2010 5:04 AM
I was out bird ringing for the first time with my uncle and his friend. We caught a Kingfisher which was fantastic, but whilst we were holding it, the kingfisher turns it’s neck almost 360 degrees. Why do Kingfishers do this whilst in the hand?

From: BBC Nature on Wed, Oct 27 2010 5:04 AM
The parakeet featured in this clip is sitting at the entrance to a hole in the tree trunk, from which it has just evicted a squirrel! We saw the parakeet land on the tree trunk in Richmond Park and then start hammering with its beak at the hole. After a few seconds a startled squirrel emerged fr...

WildHoneyBeesSwarm
From: BBC Nature on Wed, Oct 27 2010 5:04 AM
I was surprised to find a swarm of Honey Bees living in a wild state. Their comb was built on to a low branch above a field ditch and was totally exposed to the elements. A beekeeper was called to collect the swarm which would not have survived the onset of winter if left to their own devices.

After being woken up at 5.00 am this morning by woodpeckers calling, I spotted this chap in a tree in my garden. Mum was taking it peanuts from our feeder. He gets a bit too enthusiastic and knocks her off the branch. In the full length clip, she soon comes back with more food for it. By Richard...

This is a clip of Boris our resident spider. He has made a lovely web in the hedge next to our front gate. We put a leaf in there to see how he would react and he throws it out with much enthusiasm. He is now like part of the family and our three year old and six year old look for him ...

We had heard that Hedgehogs were having trouble finding food so after some research put some food out for them. I had an old security camera so decided to put it to good use. This footage was captured very shortly after I pressed the record button!

I rescued from my cat, what looked like a worm coming out of the grass. But as I picked it up a small furry body followed and I realised it was a shrew. I put it in a box for recooperation and it had a crumb of cheese to help it get back on its feet. Obviously it made a full recovery and it’s no...

Badgerkitten
From: BBC Nature on Wed, Oct 27 2010 5:03 AM
We have badgers on our patio every night, usually one or two but there were 5 of them one night in June. There was only one yesterday, but we recently got a kitten, which is now 9 weeks old, and it scared the badger away.
