2007BILLABONG PRO MUNDAKA FINAL HIGHLIGHTS

CALIFORNIAN surfer BOBBY MARTINEZ (Santa Barbara) has defeated Australian world number three TAJ BURROW (Yallingup) to win back to back titles at the Billabong Pro in Mundaka, Northern Spain. In clean 1m waves at the famed European Left-Hander the 25-year-old goofy footer took down world number one MICK FANNING in the semi final to set up the decider against BURROW. It was one of the closest finals in the history of competitive surfing with less than 0.5 of a point separating the two chargers at the final hooter. The final score saw MARTINEZ 16.44 to BURROW 16.16. The defending event champ started strongly, locking in a high scoring 8.17 on his second ride and then relegated his opponent into a combination position shortly after with a 7.50. BURROW fired back with a near perfect 9.33 score but could not find the 7.11 final wave he needed to poach the much-needed win at the death.
