TEDxDaejeon - Jo Ju-hyun - Beating disabilities to pioneer grassroots journalism

The TEDxDaejeon 5th Speaker, Jo Ju-hyun 조주현은 언론인이다. 그 중에서도 주류 언론매체가 아닌, 풀뿌리 민주주의의 상징이라 할 수 있는 지역신문의 베테랑이다. 그는 해당 지역 단체장의 개인 홍보수단으로 전락해버린 몇몇 지역신문의 관행을 따르지 않고 지역사회의 끈끈한 연대를 느끼기에 충분한 내용들로 옥천신문을 만들어 왔다. 물론 이는 혼자만의 힘으로 이룬 게 아닌, 신문사 구성원들과 지역주민들의 적극적 참여와 정성이 함께 했던 결과이다. 또한 그는 옥천신문에서 한국에서 '안티조선'이라는 용어와 그 운동을 처음 전개했고, 90년대 중반 이후로 뜻 있는 사람들 사이에 큰 반향을 불러일으키고 적지 않은 신드롬 비슷한 움직임을 만들어냈다.
