2011 BEIJING INT´L SUDOKU TOURNAMENT CCTV News

The two-day 2011 Beijing International Sudoku Tournament has concluded in Beijing. It was the first time for Beijing to host the tournament. After a weekend spent crunching numbers, Jakub Ondrousek from the Czech Republic won the championship. Sudoku is a popular number placement game. It originates from Chinese 9-grid number placement game. Rules for the modern version of sudoku were set by the Japanese during the 1980s. Sudoku is a game where you fill in the puzzle so that each 3x3 grid contains the numbers 1 to 9 only once. It requires quite a lot of logical thinking. Jakub Ondrousek finished his sudoku nearly two minutes ahead of his closest competitor. Surprisingly, he only started playing the game about 5 years ago.
