When I was in the Marine Corps back in the old days I was stationed at a base named MCAS Tustin. Becky and I decided to visit the facility and see if it was still there. Most of the base has been torn down and it looks as if Condos are being built in and around the old facilities. www.militarymuseum.org The road into the base had likewise been shutdown and there was all kind of signs saying no trespassing. But there was enough room for a vehicle to get through the barriers and I figured what the hell, what's the worse that can happen for driving through the barriers. I could always use the excuse that "We're sorry, we're from Indiana". So we drove right up to the hangars, huge monstrosities that were originally designed to hold 6 dirigibles each. It was kind of melancholy to see the base closed. The last time I was there 30 some years ago there was about 100 helicopters parked on the tarmac. Now there only remain ghosts. So after leaving the base we drove to Laguna Beach. www.lagunabeachinfo.org Had a nice dinner and watched the sunset over the ocean. I did go swimming but it was way, way too cold to stay in the water very long. When I was young I surfed the same beach.
