13日も、日本各地を暑さが襲い、列島24地点で猛暑日を記録した。うだるような暑さの中、ついつい手を伸ばしてしまうのが、ペットボトルでの水分補給。街の人は「結構、飲みすぎますね」と話した。しかし、注意しなければならないことがある。たまプラーザ内科クリニックの星 賢二院長は「太っている方は特に、『ペットボトル症候群』に気をつけていただきたいと思います」と話した。「ペットボトル症候群」とは、糖分を含んだ清涼飲料水を一気に飲むことで、急激に血糖値が上がることで、昏睡(こんすい)状態に陥るなど、糖分が原因となって引き起こされる。星院長の調査によると、500mlのペットボトルの場合、一般的なスポーツ飲料には、角砂糖がおよそ11個、炭酸飲料にはおよそ12個、そしてジュースには、およそ13個分の糖分が入っているものもあるという。こうした中、気象庁は13日から、高温注意情報の提供を開始した。14日は、関東甲信と東海、近畿、九州北部の4地方に高温注意情報が出されている。
