Jnm_burke’s travel blog entry: "Day three in Rome was designated for the Vatican. So we met again with our partner in crime, Jake and headed for the world's smallest soviergn nation. When we arrived at the Vatican we were a little shocked how expensive entry into the museums, the sistine chapel and the bascillica are. But this is why we were here, to see the sights, so we paid the steep fees, which in the end was worth it. Part of the Vatican's prestige over the past few decades has been collecting some of the world's most preciouse and important works of art and literature. To help us with our self guided tour of the maze of museums, churches and galleries located within the Vatican walls, we purchased an adio guide, which will give you the history on a work of art or gallery upon command (This was well worth it). Our self guided tour consisted of the: Pinacoteca, Museo Pio-Clementino, Galleria delle Carte Geografiche, Stanze di Raffaello (Raffaello Rooms), and ended at the Sistine Chapel. This is truley the most amazing displays of artwork and sculptures in the world. I saw Van Gogh's, Michaelangelo's, Raffaello's, da Vinci's, Modern Art, and works from BC.
