Jan Eliasberg - Director’s Reel — A ground-breaking writer/director and producer, Jan Eliasberg was hand-picked by Michael Mann to be the first female director on Miami Vice. She was also the first woman to direct Crime Story, Wiseguy and 21 Jump Street. Michael Mann remains Jan's mentor to this day, godfathering her film Heart of the Atom. Jan has directed drama pilots for CBS, ABC and NBC, as well as films and theatre with some of the greatest American actors of her generation: Frances McDormand; Paul Giamatti; Angela Bassett; Tony Shalhoub; Jane Kaczmarek, Stanley Tucci, and John Turturro. She was a writer/producer/director on NBC/WB's acclaimed family drama, Sisters, and, as executive producer, sold the pilot Spirit of Saint Louis to Nina Tassler at CBS and The Blue Wall, with Angela Bassett attached to star, to Fox Television Studios. She has directed multiple-episodes and hundreds of hours of award-winning television including Blue Bloods, Parenthood, N.C.I.S.: Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, In Plain Sight, L.A. Law, Party of Five, Dawson's Creek, and The Ghost Whisperer. As a feature writer, Jan wrote W.A.S.P., the story of the Women Air Service Pilots in World War Two, for Cameron Diaz and Nicole Kidman at Fox 2000 and The Gemcutter, a magical family-film with Paul Schiff attached to produce and Jan to direct at Sony. Additionally she has written feature-film projects for Jennifer Lopez, New Line, and Warner Brothers. Heart of the Atom topped the B.B.C. short list for best screenplays of 2009 and was selected for Film Independent's Producer's Lab. The project has attracted the brilliant actors Cillian Murphy (Inception, Batman Begins, Red Eye, The Wind the Shakes the Barley, 28 Days Later) and Luke Evans (Tamara Drewe, The Three Musketeers) and a stellar crew of Academy Award winners, including D.P.
