A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Sydney, Australia by TravelPod blogger Andrewsinclair titled "First day in Australia" Andrewsinclair’s travel blog entry: "Travelling via the Sydney underground from the airport to the Kings Cross area before walking upto what would be my hostel for the week, the Blue Parrot Backpackers. The hostel seems to be ideally placed in Potts Point, about 15mins walk from the city centre and 5mins from Kings Cross. After getting sorted in my dorm room I went to the reception to get some info on whats good to see in the city. Sasha, one of the hostesses, informed me of an ideal route to get a feel for the city on my 1st day. From the hostel I walked down through Wooloomooloo Bay, home to 5 star dining and the stars (Russel Crowe and Nicole Kidman are rumored to own a place there). Also of interest to pie lovers is Harry's Cafe de Wheels - pie stand to the stars, and is decorated with pictures of all the stars who have had one of his famous pies. From here I headed around the bay through The Domain, a free greenland area to walk around and gives entry to the Royal Botanic Gardens, towards Mrs Macquaries Point, which gives a good view of the Sydney's Iconic Feature - the Sydney Opera House. From here I walked upto this iconic building, after taking probably too many photos of it (couldn't resist really), and booked myself on a 1hour guided tour.
