Mike Bettes adopted one of the 100s of pets left homeless after the Joplin, MO tornado. Named Joplyn, she and Annie, a dog adopted by producer Mike Jenkins, arrived via Pilots and Paws, a group that provides free transportation to animals in need.

Weather is often a cause of flight delays, but not Wednesday at JFK International Airport. About 150 turtles were traveling, not by plane, to the beach to lay their eggs, and ended up on a runway. The turtles were moved to safety.
