Fair Trade coffee has been available in Germany for more than 20 years. Today the market in Fair Trade products has boomed, making 320 million euros last year in products like clothing, fruit and flowers. The Germany-wide Fair Trade Week aims to promote understanding of the concept behind the logo.

Munich’s Oktoberfest is the world’s biggest beer festival. In fact, with at least 6 million visitors, it’s possibly the world’s biggest festival, period. This year Oktoberfest is celebrating its 200th birthday, and DW was there to sample a beer or two from the opening ceremony.

Amsterdam’s city council is considering raising the mimimum age for prostitutes from 18 to 23. Councillors in favor of the idea say it would help ensure that those plying their trade in the city are doing so of their own free will.
