Laptops are ideal candidates for solid state drives: These drives are more rugged and shock resistant than standard hard drives, since they have no moving parts. Since laptops get thrown quite a bit, replacing a more traditional, rotating hard drive with a more robust SSD can be good idea.

Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone has a 4-inch AMOLED display, uses the same 1GHz processor as the just-announced HTC EVO 4G, runs the Android 2.1 platform, and has a 5-megapixel camera. It's thinner than an iPhone, at less than 0.4 of an inch thick, and weighs less.

Color e-reader screens manufactured by the company that makes the Kindle for Amazon.com were recently on display at a trade show in Shenzhen, China. Taiwan-based Prime View International showed 6-inch and 9.7-inch color e-reader screens.
