Plenty of strong earnings news out from several Dow Jones Industrial Average components today is driving the market higher. DuPont (DD) reported a 27% increase in earnings, to $1.43 billion, or $1.52 per share.

There is very little activity in the Treasury futures today as the long Easter Holiday starts today with early closes at Noon CDT. Today is also the expiration of the May Treasury futures options and that has a tendency to pin the nearest strike price, in todays case its the 120.00 area.

Oilfield services giant Halliburton (HAL) reported a big gain in profits as higher oil prices in the first quarter spurred exploration activities. Earnings more than doubled to $511 million, or $0.56 per share, compared to $206 million, or $0.23 per share, in last years first quarter.
