東日本大震災で被害を受けた宮城・塩釜市で、重さ1トンのみこしを乗せた御座船が湾内を巡る祭りが開かれています。18日午前、塩釜神社をみこしが出発し、総勢350人が列をつくって港まで進んでいきます。「塩釜みなと祭」は、2011年で64回目を迎える伝統の夏祭りです。神社の202段の石段を、重さ1トンのみこし2基を氏子が担いで降りるのが見せ場の1つですが、2011年は余震を警戒し、車道を通ってみこしを港に運びます。祭りはこのあと、みこしを御座船に乗せ、漁船などおよそ80隻と一緒に、松島湾を巡る海上パレードが行われます。

フランス・アルザス地方にある小さな村で、東日本大震災からの復興を支援するイベントが開かれた。人口600人のニーデルモルシュビル村で、ジャムや菓子などを扱う店を経営する女性が中心となって行ったイベントには、村の人口の倍近い、およそ1,000人が集まった。クリスティーヌ・フェルベールさんは「日本と、日本の友人のために、連帯の気持ちでイベントを主催しました」と話した。この日は、ユズや抹茶を使った菓子などを販売。売上金や会場で集められた寄付金は全額、FNSチャリティーキャンペーンからユニセフを通じて、東日本大震災の被災地へ送られる。
