地上デジタル放送への完全移行まであと1週間となり、都内で地デジ移行をアピールするイベントが行われた。東京・有楽町で行われたイベントには、「地デジ芸人」の「テツandトモ」さんらが参加し、残り1週間となった完全移行を前に、地デジの準備を呼びかけた。地デジに対応していない世帯は、全国で残り29万世帯となり、総務省は100%のデジタル化に向け、万全を期したいとしている。東日本大震災で被災した岩手、宮城、福島県は、2012年3月末まで移行を延期する予定。

福島第1原発で、3号機のタービン建屋の屋上に仮設の屋根を設置する作業が始まった。3号機のタービン建屋の屋上には、水素爆発によるがれきが直撃したとみられる大きな穴が開いていて、大雨が流れ込み、汚染水の量が増加する懸念があるため、18日午前8時半から、遠隔操作の重機で穴をふさぐ作業が始まった。
